Blues player Mark Sallings dies in car accident

Blues fans are mourning the loss of a man well know throughout Arkansas and the nation. Blues harmonica player Mark Sallings was killed in a car accident  near West Memphis on Feb. 25 on his way to a gig.
Sallings was an original member of The Famous Unknowns, a blues act based out of Northeast Arkansas, that was the first house band at B.B. King Blues Club in Memphis. Sallings, 56, was an Arkansas native, and was well known and respected in Northwest Arkansas where he often performed.
There will a jam honoring Sallings at the Hard Rock Café in Memphis, at 4 p.m. Mar. 2. At 11 a.m. Mar. 3 there will be a service at the McCrory Methodist Church in McCrory, Ark. Sallings will be buried at 1 p.m. Mar. 4 at the Brashears cemetery about 40 miles southeast of Fayetteville.
