Sidewalk Work To Cause Traffic Delays

Fayetteville will begin work on a new sidewalk along the north side of Lawson Street. The project will begin at Porter Road and extend east approximately 520 feet to complete the sidewalk connection. These improvements are intended to improve sidewalk connections and pedestrian safety. The work will consist of installing new sidewalk storm drainage pipe, inlet boxes and curbing along the north side of the street to improve pedestrian safety.

Work, which began May 31, will continue through July. Scheduled work hours will be 7 a.m. until about 3 p.m. each day. Construction will require closing the street to through traffic during work hours. Detour routes will be marked.

Improvements are made possible by Federal Transit funds from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department to implement New Freedom projects. New Freedom funds are not part of the federal stimulus program.
