I-540 Lane Closures

Restrictions Near Arkansas 62 Exit

Hey, Fayetteville! How about some Interstate 540 lane closures and restrictions July 9-12? Eh? Eh?

Looks like the state highway department will be doing some work around the Arkansas 62/Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard exit so you might want to plan on taking some extra time getting through that area.

Here’s the details from the city of Fayetteville:

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department notified the City of Fayetteville of lane closures/restrictions from Saturday, July 9, until Tuesday, July 12, on I-540 in the area of the Highway 62/180 (Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard) exit in Fayetteville.

If you will be traveling in this area this weekend until Tuesday of next week, we ask that you please use caution and allow time to get to your destination with this construction work in mind.  We appreciate your patience while this work will be going on, for your safety and the safety of others.

From July 9 until July 12, this work will necessitate the closure of the outside northbound land, from Mile Marker 62 to Mile Marker 63, to allow for the placement of a precast concrete barrier wall on the outside shoulder of the interstate.  The times of the closures will be from 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, to 8:00 a.m. on Sunday July 10; from 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, to 5:00 a.m. July 11; and from 11:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, to 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12.

Following placement of the barrier wall, the northbound inside and outside lanes of the highway will be reduced in width and the outside shoulder will be closed to allow for the construction of a new entrance ramp and the removal of the existing entrance ramp onto I-540.  The lane width restrictions are expected to be in place for 60 days.”
