Y’allquaeda and Executive Orders

By this point, everyone has heard about the Bundy clan; the “militia” that’s taken over a federally owned bird sanctuary and staging an armed occupation. What so many people don’t seem to be clear on is that this isn’t the first time this has happened, and white people aren’t the only ones that get away with it.

It’s a completely valid question to ask what would be happening if someone of color carried out an armed occupation on a federal building or federal land. Funny bit is it is absurdly easy to find out. The answer is pretty much what we are seeing. Go ahead. Google “Armed Occupation of Alcatraz” and “Armed Occupation At Wounded Knee”. I’ll wait.

The thing is? Native Americans had every damn right to seize that land and carry out those protests. These clowns? They claim they’re doing it because two ranchers are about to be jailed for burning “their own land.” But they burned federal land. That is a crime. What’s more, this land doesn’t belong to the government or to the ranchers. This land belongs to the Burns Paiute tribe, who have a simple message to the clownish “militia”: “Go home. We don’t want you here.”

On top of carrying the typical white person delusion that this land ever belonged to them, they are desecrating sacred sites for the Paiute, and for a group that claims to have so much respect for the land, they sure don’t seem to have any idea what respect entails.

I see people demanding the media refer to these idiots as terrorists, completely misunderstanding what terrorism is. They haven’t hurt or killed anyone. They are staging an armed occupation. So long as they continue to not kill people for political gain, they will never be terrorists.

Both the Indian and militia occupations were both the same kind of protest, and they both were carried out in a very similar manner. The biggest difference? The land the Bundy’s are demanding doesn’t belong to them, or the ranchers, or really the federal government. It belongs to, big surprise, the Native American tribe that has called that land home for hundreds of years before white people came along.

So the Bundys are idiots and they are already collapsing because of that, but terrorists? No. They aren’t terrorists.

Executive Order

Many people don’t seem to understand what executive orders are or how they work, and I’m not going to play high school teacher and impart knowledge you should have had since grade school. Suffice to say, everything he’s done is perfectly legal. No one is threatening to take anyone’s guns. All Obama has done is require moer thorough background checks, and require private sellers (like gun shows) abide by the same rules that all other gun sellers do.

At this point, it’s easier to get a gun than it is to get a driver’s license. That’s so ridiculous to me. But worry not, NRA and NRA cohorts; your right to buy absurd murder tools is intact, it just may take a couple of days longer than it did before. So please, spare the comparisons to Hitler and Stalin, because Obama is far from the only president to flex his executive muscle.

I’m so tired of the uninformed. I hate having to explain concepts that should have been covered in basic school lessons, and even more tired of people blaming the country’s problems on the man who has arguably done as much good for this country as any of the well-remembered presidents.

The bipartisan system is so broken. Nothing gets done nor will anything ever get done so long as the GOP continues to go down the track they are. Let me be clear here: I don’t think of the GOP as the Republican party. That’s why so many actual Republicans are supporting Sen. Bernie Sanders. Some of greatest leaders have been Republican. Then Reagan came along and it slowly started becoming the rich person’s party, until somewhere around Bush Jr. it turned into the ultra-conservative, slightly racist, in-no-way-progressive party. Republicans are supposed to be fiscally minded, not concerned about God in government! So when I say the bipartisan system is broken, I mean that actual Democrats and actual Republicans are powerless in the face of the GOP and its liberal equivalent.

But, once again, we have the power to change everything this November. So research your candidates. Know who you are voting for. Learn everything, the good and the bad, and make an informed decision based on their qualifications, and not their party affiliation.
