Cutty Rye Signs With Mudstomp Records

Staff Report

“After appearances at The Fayetteville Roots Fest, Riverstomp and shows with fellow Mudstomper Mountain Sprout, this act seems poised to take the Northwest Arkansas bluegrass scene by storm.”

Cutty Rye

Cutty Rye is made up of Chooch Meisenbacher, Adams Collins, Payton Easley and Warren Dietzel, as well as regulars Martha McBride, Mark Landry, Tom Anderson, and Nick Caffery.

Local bluegrass band “Cutty Rye” has signed with Regional record label Mudstomp Records. After a string of live shows, performings songs from their album Half Pack of Chesterfields (2013) and others, both in and outside of Northwest Arkansas this past year, the band was offered the opportunity.

“We are very happy to sign on with Mudstomp. It’s something we have wanted to do for a long time and we think it is the home for our style of music that our band has been looking for,” guitar player Payton Easley said.

This will mean their sophomore album The Devil Smokes Bluegrass will be recorded and released in the next few months under the help and guidance of the label.

“We have been looking forward to working in the Mudstomp Studio, this is an album we are very anxious to record and we are so glad that Mudstomp will be involved. Josh (Cook) has been very helpful in working with us and making us feel welcome,” said banjo player Adams Collins.

Cutty Rye, composed of Chooch Meisenbacher, Adams Collins, Payton Easley and Warren Dietzel, as well as regulars Martha McBride, Mark Landry, Tom Anderson, and Nick Caffery have been together for about three years. The group has enjoyed a very successful year after the release of their first album in March last year, and has been touring regionally ever since. After appearances at The Fayetteville Roots Fest, Riverstomp and shows with fellow Mudstomper Mountain Sprout, this act seems poised to take the Northwest Arkansas bluegrass scene by storm.

What does this mean for fans of the Fayetteviille-based band? It means continued success and room to grow, the band said. Mudstomp is more than a record label who works to support the bands that are signed on, bands including Moutain Sprout, T Chicken, and The Whistle Pigs, it is a genre of music. A style that is popular at festivals and venues where the music can be loud and the crowd can stomp and dance. Cutty Rye, who is as rowdy as they come, will fit well adopting both the genre and the culture of the label.

You can catch Cutty Rye locally Feb. 20 at George’s Majestic Lounge playing with national touring act from Chicago, Cornmeal, or May 9 and 10 at FayetteStomp also at George’s performing with all the Mudstomp bands.
