People in Northwest Arkansas are going crazy over craft beers. With eight microbreweries in the area now, and hundreds across the country, craft beer is quickly becoming a high demand market.

The latest local brewery to open this summer will be Apple Blossom Brewing Company. It will be located on Zion Rd. in Fayetteville.

Kent Starr, the owner of Liquor World in Fayetteville, has noticed the popularity in craft beers. According to Starr, “People have been asking me about a number of different beers that should be added to our shelves, and the last few years we’ve been doing just that.” Liquor World has the largest selection of craft beers in the area with over 200.

Seeing that there is a growing interest in these beers, and many craft beer enthusiasts in Northwest Arkansas, Liquor World is holding a contest to send two lucky beer enthusiasts to the Great American Beer Festival.

This annual festival is held in Denver Oct. 10-12, 2013, and is the largest gathering of craft beer brewers in the country. It features beer from 600 different breweries for tasting, and a private competition.

The contest will run from June 21,2013 – Aug. 31,2013. Contestants must be 21 and have a valid photo I.D. with no purchase necessary. The winner will receive two tickets to the Great American Beer Festival, round trip airfare from XNA, and lodging from Oct. 9-12, 2013.
