Midtown Music Showcase is a festival held in the Evelyn Hills Shopping Center in Midtown Fayetteville. The festival happened last year as Evelyn cHills Fest, and has since been renamed and revamped to include featuring local musicians who will play for judges and will have a chance to win some great prizes!
The mission of Midtown Music Showcase is to help revitalize Fayetteville’s Midtown area through bringing together local artists and businesses to generate funding for a higher purpose. There will be music, games, food, and fun!
The higher purpose aspect is to support a local charity. The 2013 festival will be supporting Fayetteville Public Schools Outback, a local food pantry and clothing closet for students enrolled in Fayetteville Public Schools. They help provide families in need with the food and clothes their children need. All of the proceeds raised at Midtown Music Showcase, including a raffle table, will go to The Outback.
The festival will feature five local musicians/bands. To select these bands, the businesses in the shopping center and the sponsors of the event will come together and listen to submissions in early July. Bands should submit a sample of their music to firstname.lastname@example.org, drop off a demo at Ozark Natural Foods, or mail a demo to ONF by July 1. Once the five bands are selected, the event will promote them.
The five bands that play will compete to win three grand prizes. Judges will include representatives from several businesses in the shopping center, along with a representative from George’s Majestic Lounge, 104.9 The X, and Insomniac Studios. The top three ranking bands will have the chance to play at George’s Majestic Lounge for a benefit concert that will also support Fayetteville Public Schools Outback. The top ranking band will also get 8 hours of live recording time at George’s in partnership with Insomniac Studios, and will be featured on 104.9 The X, on their 3B Radio show.
