First Thursday

Fayetteville — April 5 kicks off the first 2012 First Thursday on the Square with more artists and favorite events from previous years. Terra Studios will be facilitating the Kid’s Zone this year, and the Beer Garden, sponsored by New Belgium Brewing Company, has returned to the Town Center Plaza. Visitors can also expect to see the outdoor movie return in July, August and September. Each month will showcase live music, and for April, the Tiffany Christopher band will be playing.

Because of an increase in participation from the artist community, the First Thursday event will now require all four streets of the Downtown Square. Tanner Montgomery of the Fayetteville Visitor’s Bureau explains that by securing the entire square, the event is not only providing enough room for current levels of participation, but is also setting a precedent for the future.

“We expect to grow tremendously in the coming years,” says Montgomery.

The First Thursday event has seen consistent growth over the past two years, almost doubling in size each year from the previous season.
