Last Night in Fayetteville
“Last Night’ in Fayetteville is a new New Year’s Eve celebration held on the Downtown Square. For those of you who remember “First Night,” be assured that this event is something new and different, though there will be some familiar activities and family-friendly events.
Attendees can look forward to music, comedy, theater, fireworks and more.
1. Ticket Booth and Indoor Sculpture Garden
If you don’t already have them, you can get your tickets here upon arrival. $15 at the door or $10 in advance. $5 for children and $50 for VIP.
Music lovers, more specifically, Fayetteville music lovers, grab a seat and don’t budge. Three sensational artists will be playing through the evening. Jazz, funk and vaudeville rock — Oh, My! What an excellent combo.
7 p.m. — Fayetteville Jazz Collective
8:30 p.m. — 1 oz. Jig
10 p.m. — Randal Shreve and the SideShow
3.VIP Lounge at Matt Miller Studios
VIP is self-explanatory, no?
4Kids Zone / Fashion Runway
This is also where you can find family friendly events, such as puppet-making, crafts and films for kids. Later in the evening, after all the kiddies have gone to bed, fashion lovers can stop in to see a fashion show presented by the soon-to-launch FAME magazine.
6-8:30 p.m. — A smorgasbord of children’s activities.
8 p.m. — PUPPET PARADE
10 p.m. — FAME Magazine Fashion Show
5. Folk Stage
If you hanker for a banjo and some good lyrics, this is the spot for you. Featuring some of the best-known folk musicians in the area, the Odom Law Firm continues the tradition of First Night by transforming into the Folk Stage.
7 p.m. — Emily Kaitz
8:30 p.m. — Still on the Hill
9:30 p.m. — Folk Jam with all three performers.
6. Sheet Fort Theater
Who doesn’t love a sheet fort? This is Art Lab Theater’s second sheet fort, but the material is all new. Items and messages left in public domain — either purposefully or accidentally — serve as the inspiration to this one-of-a-kind theater performance that reflects an intimate part of the community. NWA Gridiron is a tradition for area journalists, and you can expect to hear the best songs of political satire of the past and present.
8:30 p.m. — Artist’s Laboratory Theatre’s “Found Fayetteville”
9:30 p.m. — NWA Gridiron
10:45 p.m. — Artist’s Laboratory Theatre’s “Found Fayetteville”
7. Comedy Club
Let me guess, you like beer almost as much as you like laughing. Take a seat and enjoy spoken word, improv sketches, stand-up comedy and silly songs.
8. After Party
Move it! Move It! The Terra Nova Belly Dancers put on a great show — you may even see the ladies
do their sword balancing trick. Afterward, you can try some moves of your own at Fresco Cafe/Club Lush.
9:30 p.m. Terra Nova Belly Dancers
11 p.m. Robe Flax Dance Party
9. Hog Drop Countdown to Midnight and Fireworks Finale! Hooray!
