Tilburg’s Dutch Brown Ale is brewed in the tiny village of Tilburg near the Belgian border.
It pours brown with cherry highlights. The aroma hits you like mossy wood and damp earth but the taste belies the aroma. The flavors that burst on the taste buds are like some marvelous nectar suckled from the teat of Aphrodite herself.
Malt, hops and love are in perfect balance in this fantastic brew. The finish is clean with the pallete longing for yet another taste of this delightful ale.  This is one of the most perfectly balanced brews I’ve ever had.
The Dutch painter Jeroen Bosch lived nearby the brewery and the label is based on a detail from his painting “The Garden of Earthly Delights.” This is definitly the ale I would serve in such a garden.
Pair with roast beef or chicken with a brown mushroom gravy.

Rico’s Reaction

This beer was a delight from the moment its rich earthy scent wafted up into my nostrils — though it did see the forest of nose hair there and come wafting back out.
Tilburg’s has a light, creamy flavor that’s full of roasted malts. It almost felt like a fantastic dessert with waves of toffee like a Heath candy bar
Loved this brew from beginning to end and loved finding out the maker’s used a bit from “The Garden of Earthly Delights.” I don’t know art, but I do know what I like.

Rating System

One Cap: Put it back in the horse!
Two Caps: Consume only if the other choice is Tijuana tap water or Coors Light.
Three Caps: Acceptable without standing out. The Tito Jackson of beer, if you will.
Four Caps: Nice beer that rises above most but may not deliver enough to be considered great.
Five Caps: Truly great beer that delivers on all counts. A credit to its style. Could only be better if served by scantily clad concubines.
Six Caps: Any five cap beer served by scantily clad concubines.
