A solution to the world’s energy problems? by Larry Burge

A Missouri man says he has the answers

A Newton County Missouri man claims he has discovered a solution for the world’s energy problems. Clayton Howard said he first found the key to unlock a vault of simple, reactive, infinite and nonstop energy by a method he used in the 1960’s. However, he said he had to halt his effort after some men driving a black car and wearing black business suits paid him a visit at his small laboratory outside Springdale, Ark., in 1966. Howard said the men gave him an ultimatum to stop his attempt to help humankind. Howard had no idea who the men were or who they represented. But his assumption was they represented either the government, automotive or oil interests at that time.

Howard would not reveal much about his discovery, except for saying that he and the late Guy Loyd, a longtime Springdale, Ark., resident and an industrial engineer, had worked together on a simple system in the 1960’s. Howard said his method “ventures into the realm of the innate genetics of atoms and the manner in which they naturally select their relationships,” which he has termed, PEGS-POWER, an acronym for Passive Energy Generation Systems.

Why has Howard, 61, waited so long to unveil his discovery? He said he took the threats from the uninvited and unwelcomed visitors seriously, but as he gets older he feels, “What can they do to me now? I owe no man and have little to lose.”

Howard, who worked in the fiber optics industry for more than 20 years, said that if his self-sustaining power generating system works on a larger scale with today’s technology the way that his mini-operation did in the 1960’s, that it may become the solution to the world’s energy problems. And it won’t cause any pollution.

“Too good to be true” is the cliché’ a skeptic might use to describe Howard’s claim, but what if he is correct in his assumption about what he has discovered? What could it mean to the world community?

Howard said he imagines his system could be used to power vehicles, run electrical systems in homes and light up businesses. He claims it will produce all the electrical power needed without fossil fuel, power lines, utility grids, gas pipelines or additional costs after the initial purchase of a single unit. The greatest advantage, Howard said, is his assumption that the unit will self-sustain without putting any harmful byproducts into the atmosphere or alter matter in any form.

“I want to raise the bar,” Howard said, “To go beyond the common envisionment of expectations and eliminate the systems of energy and power our societies presently use.”

But, that’s where the problem comes in, Howard said. Those most powerful—the corporation and government bodies that hold interest in keeping the public away from a self-sustaining systems like PEGS-POWER—trap people into spending a lot of money on their air polluting products and they do not want him to succeed.

Howard said that his passive molecular selectivity system would eventually put them out of business and it also has the advantage of freeing individuals from the burden of monthly utility and automobile fuel cost.

Howard said he has spent “many a long hour thinking” about what a system like his might mean to the millions of workers in those companies that sell utility power and make internal combustion engines. His conclusion is that in today’s world with new industry and technology changes occurring almost daily, his invention will require workers and create jobs as well, which was the case after Henry Ford invented the automobile.

Howard said he wants to make PEGS-POWER available and affordable to the global public. He envisions that once his units come onto the market, people will be able to build houses anywhere, because it will not require any attachment to power lines from electrical grids. And, because fossil fuels will no longer be needed for transportation, there will not be a need for fueling stations. Automobiles, trains, ships and airplanes will no longer require any means for fuel replacement.

Howard said he attended the University of Arkansas in the 1960’s, but focused his mind more on energy solutions than on his history courses. That was when Loyd allowed Howard to run his experiments in a shop that Loyd owned on a small plot of land east of Springdale. This was where Howard discovered his self-sustaining energy source, and where the mysterious men in dark suits visited him one evening to tell him directly to stop his experiments.

Howard’s experiments led him to create a system that provided enough electricity to run a well pump and light up the shop. The more Howard studied and researched the subject of alternative energy, the more he realized the direction that power companies, automobile manufactures and oil companies were taking was wrong.

“When you conserve something, the thing being conserved will eventually be used up, but at a slower rate,” Howard said. “I’ve been guided to a system that uses the energy that’s available naturally. It’s here, all around us and inside us. What was given to me was a way to interface that energy with our physical needs.

“A voice within me simply implied we were not looking in the right places and looking for the wrong reasons [money matters]. Yet, I felt very helpless with my ignorance on the subject, and to a great extent, still feel very ignorant.

“However, I knew the solution was all around us, all the time. It is within us and within everything, silent, yet shouting at us with the most simple obviousness. Despite my ignorance, I had a sense of confidence that I could make an interface with the molecular activity of mass and convert this power into a generation system.

“A dear friend [Loyd] had a small farm outside Springdale, Ark., and allowed me to use the shop for my tinkering. He was very interested in what I was doing, but accommodated me with a sense of humor more than confidence in my effort.

“I almost caused the death of my friend and myself, and perhaps others, in my effort to get this innovation patented,” Howard said. “I moved to Kansas City, Mo., and put my energy into raising my family. I also reasoned there were far better qualified people with the financing who would soon come upon this process and introduce it into the world. Now, four decades later, I’m still waiting for that to happen. The world is still waiting too.”

Howard said he had realized in the 1960’s how the idea of continuing on the path of oil, fossil fuel and nuclear power was unacceptable as the long-term solution for the world’s energy demands. He also calculated that “anyone with foresight could understand the eventual consequences of this path.”

He said the global calamities the world community faces today such as global warming, a fragile food supply, diminishing oil reserves, venerable utility grids and pending wars fought over such basics as water, all come without long-term solutions.

He believes the solution has been handed to him, but he wants to develop the system without governmental control, corporate bureaucratic or special interest funding or input. Therefore, he designed a business plan to go directly to the public by the sale of a simple product to raise a million dollars for the research and development of PEGS-POWER.

The reasons Howard gave for his decision to only use money he receives from individual, public sales is that those controlling entities mentioned above would make it “all about money, and the individual consumer, such as they do now, will again have to answer to powerful money interests and undue regulations on their freedom. Howard said he wants his PEGS-POWER system to provide each home, auto and business in the global community with “an affordable, simple and useful manner for virtually every need [they might have] for energy.”

“It is essential for PEGS-POWER to remain free of special interest, governmental controls and bureaucratic legalities,” Howard said.

Independent group efforts are not recognized or qualified for funding [this project either]. Because, such complex affiliations soon lose focus and become economically inefficient, they aren’t able to enter the marketplace without being somewhat controlled by special interests, Howard said.

For these reasons, PEGS-POWER is walking a debt-free path, Howard said.

“The funding for its development will come from interested individuals in a creative way. That will allow any person on this planet the opportunity to directly become a part of a real solution and benefit in many ways beyond themselves.”

Since childhood, Howard has drawn pictures, collected art pieces and written poetry and short stories. His interest in art and literature guided him to select six prosaic prints from an archive of exceptional literary works over the past 50 years. Individuals who purchase these quality, matted 11- by 17-inch prints will receive at no additional charge his PEGS-POWER portfolio, Howard said.

Those who purchase the prints will buy the opportunity to receive a personal invitation to any prototype demonstrations and exhibits of his PEGS-POWER system. They will also become the first on the list to receive notice of such items as any new company stock options in the event PEGS-POWER is as successful as Howard believes it destined to become. Howard has recently put up a website: pegspower.com.

Howard hopes that people will consider PEGS-POWER’s potential to replace anything that generates electrical power – starting with the environmental coal polluters in industry, nuclear power plants, all internal combustion engines and adding to that the elimination of utility bills with no pollution.

If the system turns on lights the way Howard said it should, then it will most likely become a big overnight winner for humanity as well.

Maybe PEGS-POWER is a long shot at best. But if the system performs as well on the mass market as Howard explained his discovery did at his makeshift lab on Loyd’s Springdale farm, the margin of profit without company debt could be huge. It might become as good as the profit sharing idea Sam Walton thought of for his employees from his “five and dime” on the Bentonville square in the 1950’s.

Why would this paper print such nonsense? His cryptic description of how his “product” will work (it does not work now, nor will it ever) is just a bunch of gibberish. People who know about science saw through this stuff immediately. Maybe Howard is sincere, but his proposed magic energy machine has zero chance of success. It is a shame that this paper has decided to help him try to raise money for something that is known to be scientifically untenable.

And it sure is interesting that the Men in Black can find out about his little pipe dream out in the little burg of Springdale, Ark. Maybe they were from the Attorney General’s office and they told him to stop scamming people. Or–maybe it never happened. Like the effectiveness of his proposed machine, Howard has no evidence for any of this.

Go online and Go ogle ‘energy machine’. Your story’s not the first. Keeping these kinds of stories about free energy, etc. does harm by raising hopes (and wasted money) that have us avoid the nasty: Ultimately we will have an energy crisis on our hands and the last thing we need is diversion with these kinds of scams. Come on, the article mentions men in black? Very obvious that this magazine’s just seeking circulation revenue stooping to the lowest common denominator: Whatever it takes to sell advertising. CS
